Emmy’s Sustainability – Caring for Clothes, People, and the Future
Sustainability is not an add-on at Emmy — it is the foundation of everything we do. We don’t produce anything new. Instead, we extend the life of what already exists and make circular fashion a real, easy choice.
Our responsibility work stands on three pillars:
1. Accelerating the shift to circular fashion
We participate in public discussions, collaborate with brands, and help the fashion industry move from a linear model toward one where quality, longevity, and reuse are the norm.
We believe change happens together — through dialogue, openness, and shared goals.
2. Creating real impact through second hand
Most of a garment’s environmental footprint is created long before it reaches a wardrobe. By enabling high-quality second-hand shopping and selling, we help avoid the emissions and resource use associated with new production.
Every item sent to Emmy is:
- inspected by hand in our Lohja processing center
- accepted only if it meets our quality standards
- listed for up to six months to find a new owner
- redirected to Emmy’s channels, partners, or charities if unsold
- kept in circulation whenever possible — never wasted
Our goal is simple: every piece deserves the chance to be worn again.
3. Reducing our own footprint
Second hand is not emission-free. Logistics and packaging still carry an impact.
That’s why we:
- reuse packaging whenever possible
- continuously research more sustainable materials
- work toward more transparent logistics emissions
- avoid producing textile waste in our own operations
Small choices add up — and we commit to improving step by step.
