We have listed the most important tips for going through your items before sending them to Emmy. A little effort is worth it, as this way you can sell your used branded clothes for the best possible price.

When selling clothes on Emmy, small actions can influence how much profit you make and how quickly your items sell. We sell women’s, men’s, and children’s branded clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories on your behalf. In addition, our selection includes maternity wear and high-quality handmade products.

We want to pass on sustainable quality that brings joy to future users as well. That’s why we carefully check every item for sale and assess their sale condition. The sale condition of products is determined according to a specific grading system, and the condition also affects the selling price.

That’s why we’ve created a concise checklist and tips to help you maximize your profit and get your branded clothes sold!

Check these things before sending your items to Emmy:

The item is intact – The item should not have holes, tears, or major wear. Check that seams and surfaces are intact and that zippers work. For example, if a seam has come undone or a button is missing, it can usually be fixed at home with little effort. This ensures your item can be accepted for sale!

A missing button or broken zipper will result in the item being excluded from sale, but for example, a missing hood or drawstring does not necessarily prevent selling. What matters is how much the missing part or small flaw affects the usability of the item. On the other hand, heavy pilling, severe fading, or excessive wear may be reasons for rejection.

The best guideline for assessing an item’s condition is whether you would be willing to buy it yourself.

The item is clean – Make sure the item is clean and stain-free. Washing after use is necessary. Ironing is not required, but general neatness does help with selling. However, consider how the clothes will withstand transport and storage: some materials, like denim, usually stay fairly smooth during shipping and remain neatly folded in the bag, while others wrinkle more easily. We process thousands of clothes for sale each week, so we cannot iron clothes before putting them up for sale.

The item is odorless – Air out or wash items with a mild detergent and make sure they are not damp before placing them in the sales bag. We do not sell items with musty or stale odors. Unfortunately, we also have to set aside items that smell strongly of detergent or perfume, as some of our customers are sensitive to scents.

The item has a brand label – At Emmy, we only sell genuine branded products. Therefore, items for sale in our online store must have the original brand label attached, showing the brand. See the list of accepted brands.

Season and timeliness – To sell your items most effectively, it’s smart to time them for the right season. For example, send us winter coats only in late autumn and summer dresses for sale already in spring. Also consider whether there is demand for the item on Emmy. For example, custom-made formal dresses may sell better in second-hand shops specializing in them.

Please always check your items listed in the online store as soon as they are put up for sale, and contact us immediately if you think any item is presented or priced incorrectly. You can also include examples of market prices for similar used items in your suggestion. Remember that discounts and campaigns affect the final sale prices and thus your earnings. Although Emmy handles the selling for you, with small and easy steps you can increase the sales value of your used items and speed up your sales process.

Avoid return costs – choose charity!
When you choose charity as the destination for unsold and excluded items, you save on the costs of returning products. Emmy will responsibly take care of recycling these items for you.
